Accounts and sync

Getting the money in

Connected accounts do the work themselves. The ones that cannot be connected are still first-class.

Bank connections through Plaid

Chequing, savings and credit cards from thousands of institutions across Canada and the United States. You authenticate on your bank’s own page; we store an encrypted access token and never your credentials.

Sync that keeps itself current

New transactions arrive without you asking. Pending charges are tracked and reconciled to the posted version when they clear, so the amount you end up with is the amount that actually left the account.

Manual and cash accounts

A wallet, petty cash, an account at an institution with no feed. Set an opening balance, record what you spend, and the balance follows. Rows you enter by hand can be edited and deleted like anything else.

Transfers excluded from spending

Paying your credit card off your chequing account is not a $2,000 expense. Transfers between your own accounts are recognised, paired to their other half, and kept out of spend and income totals.

Receipts

Keeping the paperwork

The part most finance apps leave to a shoebox. It is the reason this one exists.

A receipt on any transaction

Photograph the paper or drop in the PDF. It attaches to the specific charge rather than to a folder, a month or a category, which is what makes it findable later.

Suggested matching

Upload a receipt and Everykept proposes the transaction it belongs to by amount and date. You confirm the match. It stops short of deciding for you, because a silently wrong match is worse than none.

A gallery you can actually search

Every receipt in one place with thumbnails, plus a standing list of the charges that still have nothing attached — usually how you catch the ones you meant to photograph.

Stripped and stored privately

Images are re-encoded and their EXIF metadata, including GPS coordinates, is removed. Files live in a private bucket and reach you over short-lived signed links, never a public URL.

Reporting and budgets

Understanding what happened

Enough analysis to answer the question you actually asked, and then it stops.

The monthly view

One screen: what you spent, what came in, how it compares to last month, and the categories that moved. Built to be looked at for thirty seconds, not studied.

Budgets per category

Set a monthly amount on the categories you care about and watch the meter. No envelopes to rebalance, no ritual to keep up with, no guilt mechanic.

Personal and business workspaces

Each workspace has its own accounts, categories, budgets and currency, and reports on its own. Switching between them is one click; combining them is impossible, which is the point.

Real multi-currency

Every amount carries its currency; there is no bare number anywhere in the system. A workspace reports in its own currency rather than silently converting at a rate nobody chose.

Security and privacy

Your account, your control

Signing in

  • Email and password, or Continue with Google
  • Two-factor authentication with an authenticator app
  • Sessions you can end from anywhere, revoked immediately rather than at the next page load
  • Every security-relevant action written to an audit log

Your data

  • Bank access tokens encrypted at rest
  • Receipts in a private bucket, EXIF and GPS removed on upload
  • No advertising trackers and no analytics pixels, in the app or on this site
  • Account deletion that removes your records, not just your login

Roadmap

Honest about what is not here yet

Everykept is in beta and the gaps are real ones. These are the things people ask for that the product does not do today.

  • No native mobile app yet — the web app works on a phone, including the camera for receipts, but there is nothing in the App Store
  • No savings goals or targets: budgets are per category, per month
  • No net-worth tracking or investment accounts
  • No shared access — a workspace belongs to one login, so households cannot yet collaborate in one account
  • No CSV or OFX import for history that predates your bank connection

Try it on your own accounts

Free while Everykept is in beta. Connect one account, attach one receipt, and see whether it fits how you work.
